This year we celebrate Teddy, our miniature horse’s 10-year Anniversary at Cloverleaf. Teddy is Cloverleaf’s Ambassador of Community Service, but he wears so many more hats.  

Teddy’s arrival at Cloverleaf marked a very important milestone for the organization – the ability to take our services out into the community and offer offsite equine-assisted learning (EAL) programming. Removing the transportation barrier to our farm in Clifton, Cloverleaf has expanded services into Washington DC and remote counties like Fauquier. 

Since the program’s inception, more than 1,000 offsite clients – who would have been unable to participate otherwise due to multiple barriers including finances and transportation - have been able to benefit from working with horses. Teddy has provided programming at Washington School for Girls, Boys & Girls Club of Fauquier County, Larmax Homes, Glasgow Middle School as well as other one-time events and workshops at local libraries, community events, local businesses and celebrations.

Cloverleaf Equine Center is extremely honored that the Clifton Town Council voted to proclaim Saturday, July 27, 2024 “Teddy Day,” recognizing Teddy’s achievements in the growing field of equine-assisted learning as well as the impact of the organization’s mission to provide equine-assisted services to children and adults with disabilities, youth from marginalized communities, our recovering military and Veterans and others in need.
